With the new year 2015 upon us, audiences are anxious to binge-watch the highly anticipated Netflix superhero series, Marvel’s Daredevil. In a 13 episode arc, viewers will get to see Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox), Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll) and Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) jump from the comic book page to the live-action screen.

As we previously mentioned, Matt Murdock (Cox) was a young boy when he was struck blind after a near fatal car accident. Though everyone thinks he lives in complete darkness, radioactive chemicals gave him back his sight. By day, Murdock pretends to be the blind lawyer attending courtroom battles. But when darkness falls, Daredevil serves out his own brand of justice protecting Hell’s Kitchen from crime.

Here are 5 reasons why Marvel’s Daredevil will dominate Netflix in 2015:

5) The Right Leading Man

From cartoons to the theater screen, there have been different incarnations of the man without fear. We’ve seen the black ninja outfit when Rex Smith wore it in The Trial of the Incredible Hulk, but this is closer in tone to Frank Miller/John Romita Jr.’s vision. Charlie Cox, who has already done a brilliant job in Boardwalk Empire and Downton Abbey, has leading man material to show a conflicted and stubborn man struggling to find the right path between light and darkness.

4) Jessica Hamby

We loved Deborah Ann Woll in True Blood and we’re excited to see her in a new role. Not a lot of actresses can jump back into their new acting after being on a hit series for so long. Sometimes, they’re not able to pull off a different role. In the comics, Karen Page has this sweet quality about her, even as she falls into dark times. This isn’t about playing a red-haired vixen; this is about playing a love interest who’s strong enough to step into danger herself. And we know Woll can deliver that kind of persona because of her charisma.

3) Scary To The Max

My favorite version of The Kingpin is from the 90’s Spider-Man cartoon because it nails the essence of the character down pat. In the comics, the Kingpin is surrounded by psychopaths, such as Bullseye, loose cannons like the Punisher, and yet he’s still the scariest one in the room. We at MStars News saw footage of Vincent D’Onofrio as Fisk at New York Comic Con. Trust us, scary is the right definition. The Law & Order: Criminal Intent actor is larger-than-life, especially when he’s just standing still.

2) The Showrunner

Have you seen the Daredevil showrunner Steven DeKnight in person? The tattoos on this guy’s arms just prove he could have been on Sons of Anarchy. We love his work on Angel and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but Spartacus: War of the Damned is what impresses us the most. There’s nothing cooler than a real tough guy writing another tough guy.

1) The Defenders

The person who’s casting these Netflix shows deserves a huge round of applause. We love that Krysten Ritter is playing Jessica Jones and that Mike Colter has been cast as Luke Cage. Iron Fist is a little tricky because you need someone who can act and has the martial arts skills at the same time; which isn’t an easy feat. Seriously, how awesome is Marvel and Netflix for putting together two shows with minorities as their leads. I can’t wait for all these superheroes to star in their own show and become a team.

Marvel’s Daredevil is scheduled to air on Netflix on May 2015. Readers, what are you most excited about this show.
