In order to prevent war, Rick wonders if he should give up Michonne to The Governor in the next episode of “The Walking Dead.” If you’re anxious to catch a sneak peek at Sunday’s all-new episode, check out these promo clips from MTV Splash Page. Will Rick risk the lives of his friends in order to save Michonne’s?
Rick (Andrew Lincoln) isn’t in the best shape to give out orders. Even his own son wants him to step down as leader. If Rick doesn’t give up Michonne (Danai Gurira), the Governor (David Morrissey) will attack the prison. If Rick was in top form, he would’ve known right away not to trust the Governor’s word. Remember when Rick was being interrogated by Dave (Michael Raymond-James) and Tony (Aaron Munoz) in “Nebraska”? Rick knew not to trust those two and wouldn’t give up the location of Hershel’s farm. Thinking like a cop, Rick waited for the right moment to shoot first. The old Rick is gone and now, he hallucinates about his dead wife and hears voices in his head.
Who is the best person to talk to about the Governor? Merle (Michael Rooker) knows who the Governor really is because he’s been at Woodbury the longest. Merle describes how the Governor will take out Michonne’s eyes first, but that won’t be the end of it. The Governor will bleed Michonne dry if Rick hands her over. Merle is surprised that Rick, the one everybody listens to, is willing to give up on Michonne. That’s why Merle nicknames Rick, “Officer Friendly,” for his cold-heartedness.
What’s interesting about Merle is that he is unintentionally causing a rift between Glenn (Steven Yeun) and Daryl (Norman Reedus). Even though his wounds have healed, Glenn hasn’t quite recovered from Merle’s brutal beating. What really hurts Glenn the most is that Merle handed over Maggie (Lauren Cohan) to the Governor without hesitation. That’s why it bothers Glenn so much when Daryl brings up Merle in the conversation.
Whether or not the group likes him, Merle is still the only family Daryl has. Daryl will even force Merle to apologize to Glenn if he hasn’t already. Daryl genuinely wants his best friend and his brother to get along. There is a redemptive side in Merle that only Daryl sees. Daryl respects Glenn for speaking his mind, but that doesn’t mean he has to agree with it.
When we last saw Andrea in “Prey,” she was locked inside the Governor’s torture chamber. When he’s finished with Andrea, Michonne is next on his list. Nothing is going to stop the Governor from getting to Michonne in the next episode of “The Walking Dead.”
