Remember when the voice actors from “Batman: The Animated Series” remade “The Dark Knight Rises” trailer in their style for The Hub Network? I guess someone had to do it again. This time around, the third trailer of “Man of Steel” is mixed with clips from “Superman: The Animated Series.” Check out this mash-up right here:
I think Jason Inman did a cool job editing the audio to the animated scenes. The fanmade trailer really shines when Hans Zimmer’s music is playing in the background. I got goosebumps when I heard Zimmer’s piano theme while watching the planet of Krypton self-destruct. Inman picked the right scenes of young Clark Kent jumping high in the air, while Russell Crowe is narrating as Jor-El. It’s a full orchestra piece when we see Superman fighting his own battles against Mala and Jax-Ur.
You know what I do find missing though from this version? I’m missing out on the intensity of Michael Shannon’s performance as General Zod. You know this guy means business when he shouts in full force, “You think your son is safe. I will find him!” After watching Shannon as the crazy-as-hell Agent Nelson Van Alden on “Boardwalk Empire,” I’m rooting for Zod in this movie! I’m also betting that Kevin Costner and Diane Lane are going to knock it out of the park as Ma and Pa Kent.
Ever since I heard director Zack Snyder was attached to “Man of Steel,” I knew right away he was going to do something visually different. After how Christopher Nolan rejuvenated the Batman franchise, I’m interested in seeing what he does now with Superman. On opening weekend, I’m definitely going to be in the theater for “Man of Steel.”
“Man of Steel” will be released in theaters on June 14th, 2013.
