After just one episode, HBO has renewed their hit series, “Game of Thrones,” with a fourth season. The season premiere was a stellar ratings hit, bringing in 4.4 million viewers. With 10 more episodes to premiere next year, fans can already expect more dragons, sex, and a bigger death count on its way.

This latest season is based on the third book, “A Sword of Storms,” from author George R. R. Martin’s epic fantasy novels. Because this chapter is so huge, the adaptation was split into two parts. This third season will be based on the first half, while the fourth season will continue with the rest. Just imagine if fans didn’t get a fourth season. The show would’ve ended on such a really bad cliff-hanger. I’m glad this didn’t happen because viewers can now see the story continue as it was meant to be.

Last Sunday night, viewers had to decide between watching the season premiere of “Game of Thrones” and the season finale of “The Walking Dead.” While there was much emphasis on “The Walking Dead” finale, which brought in 12.4 million viewers, this didn’t stop the “Game of Thrones” showrunners, David Benioff and Dan Weiss, from planning the fourth season. With next season already in the planning stages, this proves how confident Benioff and Weiss are with this particular third season. This just goes to show, there’s nothing bad about winning second place.

After seeing the White Walkers and dragons again, I’m excited to hear that “Game of Thrones” has been renewed. With its season premiere, “Game of Thrones” kicked off with its most ambitious season yet. Just one episode in, we still have the rest of the third season to watch.

The next episode of “Game of Thrones” airs this Sunday at 9pm on HBO.
