With the wait finally over, “Doctor Who” fans are excited to see the return of their favorite time traveler; the Doctor returns with a stylish new suit and a whole lot of questions. Will the Doctor find out who the mysterious Clara Oswin Oswald really is? Will the Doctor figure out why the internet is missing? Let’s check out what the Doctor and his latest companion have to face in “The Bells of St. John.”
The first thing the audience sees is a young man giving them a warning. The young man pleads, “Whatever you do, do not click on the strange message.” If you click on the message, your very own soul will be uploaded onto the internet. The stolen souls are trapped forever in the Wi-Fi, crying out for help, and screaming,” I don’t know where I am!”
Elsewhere in time, the Doctor (Matt Smith) has withdrawn himself from the rest of the world. He has suffered major blows to the heart. First, the Doctor lost Amy (Karen Gillan) and Rory (Arthur Darvill) at the end of “The Angels Take Manhattan.” Then, there is the mysterious girl known as Clara (Jenna-Louise Coleman). The Doctor has met her twice (“Asylum of the Daleks” and “The Snowmen”) and failed to save her both times. He has hidden himself in solitude, living at an isolated monastery. The others refer to him as “The Mad Monk,” even though he isn’t one of them.
Something strange is going on as the Doctor receives an unexpected call from the TARDIS. Nothing has ever happened like this before. The Doctor has never had to pick up the phone from his blue police box. He instantly recognizes the voice on the other line. Clara is calling him because the internet is suddenly gone. Clara was given his number before because this is supposedly the best helpline in the universe. The Doctor has to travel to modern-day London and find out what is really going on.
It’s those small moments in Doctor Who that usually create the big scares; I don’t know about you, but the Weeping Angels creep me out! In this episode, the lights are turning on by themselves. The Doctor and Clara watch as the entire block is being lit up, one house at a time, and it’s really creepy. If the Doctor’s nemesis can turn on the lights, they can certainly shut them off. Once more, the Doctor has to rescue Clara, and this time, he has to keep her alive.
Will the Doctor discover the truth about Clara while protecting her from the dangers of time and space? Let’s find out what adventure awaits for the Doctor and his latest companion in the next episode of “Doctor Who!”
