A whole new generation of fans are about to be introduced to Rocket “Rocky” J. Squirrel and Bullwinkle J. Moose, the lovable forest animals who live in Frostbite Hills, Minnesota. Announced at C2E2, IDW Publishing, along with DreamWorks Classics and Bullwinkle Studios, have teamed up to bring Jay Ward’s classic cartoon characters back to comics. Launching in early 2014, the Pottsylvania spies, Boris Badenov & Natasha Fatale, are still going to be chasing after our duo in a brand new “Rocky and Bullwinkle” series.
Before there was Doctor Who, we had the time-traveling shenanigans of Peabody and Sherman, a dog and his pet boy. In anticipation of DreamWorks Animation’s 3D comedy adventure “Mr. Peabody & Sherman,” IDW will also release a comic book series about the time-traveling twosome.
IDW President Greg Goldstein states, “Jay Ward’s characters and concepts are landmarks in animation storytelling, and they remain as funny and relevant as ever. The phrase ‘fan-favorite’ is often overused, but in this case, it’s well earned and justified. We’re thrilled to add these brands to our ever growing list of all-ages titles.”
Readers should get ready for Bullwinkle’s mighty moose muscle and start quoting Rocky’s catch phrase, “Hokey smoke!” Let’s find out how Rocky learned his aerial skills at Cedar Yorpantz Flying School. Fun for all ages, everyone’s favorite moose and squirrel duo return in an all-new “Rocky and “Bullwinkle” series.
“Mr. Peabody & Sherman” will be released in theaters on March 7, 2014.
